“First meeting. Fern is resting in her nest, barely moving, watching. She is nocturnal and solitary — not the rabbit we imagined, but a hamster with the same quiet spirit. The apartment is full of plants and soft light. We will let her settle. No rushing. Trust is built in the spaces between visits.”
